IV (intravenous) sedation is a conscious sedation treatment, meaning that you will be aware of where you are and what is happening, and able to follow any instructions provided by our oral surgeon. Prior to providing you with IV sedation, you will meet with our oral surgeon one-on-one to discuss your medical history, dental needs and any other relevant factors to determine if IV sedation is the best option for you.
IV sedation provides medication directly into your bloodstream to help you relax quickly and feel comfortable during your appointment. This type of sedation is very safe, our oral surgeon and staff will administer the medication and monitor you closely throughout your entire treatment to ensure your safety. Patients often feel as though they have slept through their treatment following their procedure and do not recall many of the details of their visit.
You must not eat or drink anything for 24 hours prior to surgery. You will need to bring someone over the age of 18 with you to drive you home from our office. We also recommend that someone remain with you for several hours after you have arrived home until the medication has worn off.
We invite you to contact our office today for more information about IV sedation and to schedule your consultation with our caring oral surgeon. We look forward to providing you with a comfortable visit.
